Laurie Lawlor was honored by the National-Louis University Center for Teaching Through Children's Books. The REACH for the Stars gala, took place on May 19, 2007 in Cathedral Hall at the University Club of Chicago.  The theme of the 2007 event, A Tradition of Innovation, celebrated the honorees as well as the Center for Teaching through Children’s Books, the Lifelong Learning Institute, the McCormick-Tribune Center for Early Childhood Leadership, and PACE.

Eleven Distinguished Alumni Award recipients were honored. These awards recognize the achievements of alumni and friends who demonstrate service and exceptional commitment to their profession, the community, and the University.
